The update: Andy, Laura, and Luke

Delivery:
Everything went really well thanks, mostly, to our wonderful midwife, Theodora.  Luke Malcolm Morris was born at 12:28pm on Saturday, September 9.  He weighed 6lbs 10oz and measured 18 inches. He was and continues to be a very healthy baby.

Yesterday, Luke had his two-week appointment.  He weighs a little over 7lbs, which is good news.  It means he's eating well.  He has grown in length and head circumference, also.
I, Laura, am spending my days nursing Luke.  It is very hard to get much of anything done.  When I'm not nursing, I'm holding him or playing with him.
Andy booked our tickets today for Honduras.  We will be departing on October 26 for San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  Mom will be coming with us to help us get settled and help with Luke.  We will spend a day or so in San Pedro Sula to buy furniture and supplies before heading to Santa Lucia.

This week, Luke got to meet his great grandmother Liz!!
We're enjoying our time in Houston with family and friends.  We will soon begin re-packing for Honduras.

We were able to spend some time with family and friends at Lake McQueeney relaxing before the big push.  At the lake, Luke celebrated his one-month birthday, learned to sleep without being swaddled, and learned how fun it can be to play on the floor without being held.
Luke and BrendanHe also met his good friend Brendan for the first time.
Though Brendan could have easily crushed Luke, being five months his senior and a bit heavier, Luke let him know that he was a force to be reckoned with.

This week, we hope to get Luke's passport finalized, begin the process of sorting and packing, and tie up odds and ends before we leave the States.

P.S. Luke has also become much more alert and is able to focus on things around him.  He is also beginning to really smile at us, which is a fun development.

We just got back from the doctor's office.  Luke now weighs 9+ lbs!!!  He also got his first serious round of shots before we leave for Honduras on Friday.  Poor guy is feeling the effects at this moment.

We have begun to fill trunks and bags, sorting out what we want to take and what we actually have room to take.  We are looking forward to this new adventure as it draws very near.  We are ready to leave for Honduras after having thought and prayed about it for so long.

We have been blessed to spend time with lots of friends and family during the past two weeks.  It has been fun to see everyone and to introduce them to Luke.

We have arrived in Santa Lucia (SL)!  We don't have any pictures to post yet; but we will soon.  We drove from San Pedro Sula today after one and a half days of shopping.  Yesterday, we went to PriceSmart, KeyMart, Diunsa, and Gallo Mas Gallo to purchase furniture, supplies, food, and things to make our apartment a bit more homey, i.e. a bed and sheets.  Today we drove from El Progreso to SL.  The first two thirds of the trip took about two hours while the last third took about four hours.  The last section of the road from La Esperanza to SL was  "la parte feo" or the ugly part.
Luke has done very well the past few days.  He even decided to start sleeping a little bit more.  We are excited about that.
We have gotten to spend time with Doctor Ruben (Honduran doctor); Nelson (community programs coordinator); Tino (driver of the big truck); Noslim (brigade coordinator, I believe); Christy, James, Marin, Maura, and Jack O'Dea (the family who we are joining in SL).  Everyone has been very kind and very welcoming.
Tomorrow we head to market in Magdelena, a nearby town.  We are also going to try out the Protestant church in the town, know as Santidad.
Our Spanish is definitely improving, even after two days.  I sometimes forget to speak English with my mom and we continue in Spanish, even when we are alone.
Speaking of my mom, Judy, she has been a tremendous help and encouragement!  She is very helpful with Luke and goes with the flow in every situation.  She has been great.
We will write more soon and post pictures of the apartment and town.
